During that time there have been many positive changes at this family run business, not least the acquisition of the adjacent 38,000 square foot factory, increasing the company’s Head Office square footage of buildings on Wellington Road up to 56,000 square feet, plus all the land surrounding them.
Then subsequently on November 18th 2013, the company acquired Housemaster Home Improvements Ltd, having been approached by its liquidators to see if it would take on the company’s order book, staff and showroom premises in Welwyn Garden City after the sad death of its owner after a long illness. Since then Hazlemere Windows have expanded the showroom in Hertfordshire, giving it a complete makeover in September 2017. Hazlemere Windows investment in this additional resource on Mundells Industrial Centre in Welwyn Garden City has been considerable, and seen a significant increase in its already pre-existing customer base in the St. Albans, Potters Bar, Stevenage, Hatfield, Hertford and Welwyn Garden City areas.
Since Mark joined the company 11 years ago it has continued its ongoing policy of regularly investing in the latest most thermally efficient products and in keeping its High Wycombe Showroom up to date, as well as in technologically advanced CNC machinery in its modern factory premises on Cressex Business Park, in staff and by adding two full size solid roof conservatories, a hybrid orangery and a full blown orangery to its Head Office Showroom premises. When Mark first joined the business, he was not a Board Member, but was since promoted to become a Director of the business in February 2014.
Under Mark’s tenure as Marketing Director, he has grown the Marketing Department, and is ably supported by the very talented Sales & Marketing Manager, Claire Ramsden and the team she has assembled to help promote the domestic and commercial aspects of the business. On 16th December 2014, Hazlemere Window Company Ltd became Which? Trusted Traders, and then in April 2015 became Members of the Glass and Glazing Federation. In January 2016 Mark Austin was elected to the position of Chairman of the GGF Windows and Doors Group, co-Chairing Joint Meetings of the GGF Conservatory Association and Windows and Doors Group with Phil Goult from Anglian, who is the Chairman of the Conservatory Association. They both sit on the GGF Home Improvement Executive which meets quarterly.
In 2017 Mark was unanimously elected as Vice-President of the Glass and Glazing Federation, a position that made him a GGF Board Director. This is a very prestigious position both for Mark and SME Hazlemere Windows, as (God willing) it will lead to him serving a two year term of office as the President of the GGF from 1st January 2020 to the 31st December 2021.
The success and growth of Hazlemere Windows since it was established in 1985, is very much down to its Chairman and co-founder Stuart Braham, its 30 year veteran CEO Tony Beale, its other experienced Directors Jason Bradshaw and Jamie Lewis, its Managing Director Rachel Braham-Hill and its magnificent staff and loyal customer base.
